Global Dutch Asset Manager - Data Strategy
The ask:
In response to an internal audit finding, produce a multi-year data strategy that enables the organization to make the the most of its new investment management platform.
The process:
We performed a series of in-depth surveys and interviews from board members to most the most junior information producers/consumers.
The result:
A data strategy was penned that contained key business use cases to that went far beyond the original request. Resulting in an organization with a new sense or purpose on the topic of data.
Chief Data Officer
The ask: Fill the vacant role of the Chief Data officer while the organization finds a permanent candidate, while implementing the data strategy.
The process: The duties and advantages of having a permanent CDO were evangelized with senior stakeholders across NL, UK and US.
Key business use cases from the data strategy were assigned to the members of a newly formed DGC
The result: A successful data governance program was handed off to a permanent CDO after 18 months. The data strategy came to life.
Global Dutch Bank – Rewrite Data Governance
The process: Extensive stakeholder interviews were conducted to include CDOs, ORM, Compliance etc. Steercos were established and let to ensure the end product was satisfactory
The result: A clear set of documentation was adopted an owned by the appropriate internal stakeholders.
Additionally, numerous tooling enhancements were suggested to support the new set of policies and standards
Large Nordic Insurer – Data Management policy
The ask: Create a data management standard by combining existing documentation in preparation for a merger to become the largest insurer in the Nordics.
The process: We quickly identified the need for a framework of DM principles, policies, standards and best practices. Extensive time was spent evangelizing the need with the DGC, ORM, Compliance etc.
The result: The DGC approved the framework and the first draft of the new Data Management policy. The policy remained unchallenged after the merger.
